Last Days

A tale of political intrigues and epic battles, Last Days is about a prince who runs away from his murderous father, but returns with his friends to save the Kingdom of Dale when the Mongolian hordes of Kublai Khan invade.

This animated feature film is part of a US$42 million co-financing and co-production slate signed between UDE and Hanwen Animation Co. Ltd (Hanwen).

Suzhou based Hanwen is a fast growing independent animation company in China. The company started with doing outsourcing work for other studios, but quickly moved on to developing its own intellectual properties. Hanwen has set its sights beyond China and will be setting up its first overseas branch in Hong Kong in mid 2008.

“The world is turning its attention to Asia and developing a growing interest in stories, content and talents from this part of the world. There has never been a better time for Asian filmmakers and investors to work together to produce compelling content for the world market” says Chan Gin Kai, Executive Producer of UDE. “We are proud to partner Hanwen, an enterprising animation company with world class ideas and the talents to make them happen.”

This animation slate includes an animated martial arts epic film tentatively titled Last Days and a live action TV series tentatively titled
'Colourful Fish'. Both companies will be creatively involved and
the bulk of the production work will be done in HAC’s studios in China. The English language films are targeted at the international market.

“We are glad UDE has agreed to work with us on these exciting projects. Their vast international experience, creative input and financial contribution will help us to create a project that will appeal to audiences worldwide,” says Dawll Du, CEO of Hanwen.

“This slate has come very quickly after a US$10million live action slate we announced late last year,” says UDE partner Mark Byers. “It bears testimony to the many creative stories and world class talents that Asia has. We are committed to help bring the works of Asian filmmakers to the world”
